Foreman Dainius: “Marino Projects has become my second home”

Sometimes the strongest professional stories begin very simply: with one job offer, a first business trip and the wish to test yourself in a new environment. That is how Dainius started at Marino Projects. Today he is a Foreman and works every day on complex projects across different sectors and countries.

His story is about growth through hands-on experience, responsibility and a team that, over time, becomes a second home.

A first impression that stayed with him

Dainius joined Marino Projects in August 2018, when the company still worked from a small, cosy office. He was invited to work as a general labourer, but within the first days he understood there was more ahead than a regular job.

“When I arrived, I was welcomed by a friendly team, and I also received an offer to go on a business trip. That really surprised me and became my first positive impression.”

Beginnings like this often become the reason people stay. Since then Dainius has worked on projects in both shipbuilding and the electrical sector. What impressed him most was not only the scale of the projects but also the constant chance to grow.

“What surprised me most was the opportunity to improve my knowledge, work in different countries, and gain experience across different sectors.”

The daily reality of a Foreman: decisions in real time

The role of a Foreman takes more than technical knowledge. It takes the ability to react quickly when things do not go to plan.

“The work of a Foreman is full of challenges and responsibility. Very often, inaccuracies and solving mistakes in real time are what make the job more interesting.”

On projects everything moves fast, often under the direct supervision of the client or their representative. Decisions have to rest on practical experience, not on theory alone.

“Everything is carried out under the supervision of the client or their authorised representative, so I often have to rely on my own experience when making decisions.”

In Dainius’ view, this is where the real role of a Foreman shows: organising the process and staying calm when there is almost no room for error. He remembers one example from winter projects on ships.

“In winter, ship manoeuvres must be carried out quickly, but when cold water floods the decks, you have to inform the shipyard immediately and act fast to prevent the material from freezing.”

Moments like these call for speed, logical thinking and the kind of experience that only comes from working on real projects.

A team that becomes a second home

With time, the most important thing for Dainius has become not only the profession but also the people he works with every day. Project teams include specialists of very different ages, from young employees to highly experienced professionals, so good work needs both competence and the ability to act as one team.

“When working with people on projects, employee competence, responsibility, communication skills, and speed in carrying out tasks are very important.”

“Employees of different ages work on projects, from 20 to 65 years old, so responsibility and the ability to apply one’s knowledge for the benefit of the project are very important.”

Over the years the company has become more than a workplace for him.

“Marino Projects has become my second home, where we solve the questions that arise, organise project continuity, work as one team, and always find solutions.”

Dainius has watched Marino Projects grow and strengthen across sectors, in Lithuania and abroad. He sees it in the scale of the projects and in the chances people get to develop.

“Our company grows every year and expands in all sectors, both in Lithuania and abroad. We are one of the market leaders.”
