  • His leadership rests on respect, honest communication and following through on promises.

Žilvinas joined Marino Projects without big plans to become a manager. He simply came to work. Today he is a Regional Manager in Germany, responsible for several sites and a team of more than 50 specialists, and less than a year has passed since his first working day.

An unplanned beginning

“A friend suggested the company to me. At the time, I was thinking about moving back to Lithuania, but he said: try Marino Projects. I tried it, and it turned out that I stayed.”

Žilvinas has lived in Germany for many years, so working for a Lithuanian company without changing his country of residence felt like an ideal solution. His first project was planned simply: site work as a tiler. But his construction experience, his ability to work with people and his natural leadership quickly changed those plans.

“I was promoted to a site manager position almost immediately. It wasn’t something new for me. I had spent many years working in construction finishing, ran my own company, and knew how to communicate with a team and take responsibility.”

Leadership built on respect

Asked what matters most when working with a team, Žilvinas answers without hesitation.

“Respect. If you promise something, you follow through. Unfulfilled promises are where frustration and conflict begin.”

From the first days it was clear that communication would be one of his key leadership principles. He describes himself as a manager who talks first.

“I try to solve everything diplomatically. It’s important to me that a person understands the situation, not feels punished. Honesty and humanity matter most.”

Working side by side with the team

His leadership style comes from years of hands-on construction experience.

“I spent 10 to 12 years working in interior finishing and construction. Carrying materials, loading, unloading, or showing how something should be done is nothing unfamiliar to me. If needed, I take off the jacket and do it myself.”

More than once he has driven to a site himself to resolve a situation, and worked nights so his team would not be overworked.

“Maybe sometimes I give too much of myself, but that’s just who I am.”

Why Marino Projects?

For Žilvinas, the final result is not the only thing that matters. The process counts too: how problems are solved and how people are treated.

“What’s important to me is clear structure and systems. When you know exactly what you’re responsible for, work becomes much easier.”

After many years in Germany he has seen many companies, and he compares them naturally.

“People leave, try working elsewhere, and then come back. That shows that people here are treated fairly. We all want to try something new. There’s no mindset that if you leave, there’s no way back. If someone wants to return, they’re accepted normally.”

He also points to the team spirit on sites and among managers.

“With regional and project managers, we quickly found common ground. If questions come up, there’s always someone to consult.”

Responsibility when it matters most

Summing up his role, Žilvinas puts it simply.

“For me, being a Regional Manager means not standing on the sidelines and commenting, but taking responsibility when things get tough and pressure is high.”

Stories like this build trust. Not through advertising promises, but through people who work side by side with their teams every day.
